Welcome Allyssa Vesely to Sweet Water!

We have a new Environmental Outreach and Inspection Coordinator here at Sweet Water! Each year, Sweet Water partners with Marshfield Health Clinic, to host an AmeriCorps member for a year of service. Allyssa is joining the team to help us advance to raise public awareness of stormwater pollution issues in the Greater Milwaukee Area and help improve the environmental health of the region.

Allyssa answered some questions about herself and how she decided to spend a year of service with Sweet Water.

SWWT: Where are you from?

Allyssa: I am from Ottawa, IL but have been located in Milwaukee for the past 4 years.

How did you come to serve with Sweet Water?

I am serving with Sweet Water through Marshfield Clinics Healthcare Services. I have always been passionate about environmentally friendly initiatives and Sweet Water's mission stood out to me because it aligns with my own values.

What exactly is AmeriCorps?

AmeriCorps is a program that connects people with opportunities they are passionate about. Through these opportunities, people like me can tackle challenges that our nation faces day to day.

How did you become interested in environmental issues?

I've always been passionate about environmental issues, but my passion really took off when I took a course my freshman year of college that covered the water crisis in Kewaunee County, WI.

What do you like to do in your free time?

In my free time, I love to explore the outdoors. This includes hiking with friends, having picnics on the lakefront, and going on runs!

What would you like to do when your service year with AmeriCorps is done?

When my service year with AmeriCorps is complete, I hope to land a similar job that does meaningful hands-on environmental work!

We’re so excited to work with Allyssa this year!
