Welcome Claire Kaleta to Sweet Water!

We have a new Project Coordinator here at Sweet Water!

Claire is joining the team and answered some questions about herself

Are you originally from Wisconsin?

Yes! Born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I have moved away a few times as an adult, but kept coming back. I love being so close to the lake and it’s a short drive anywhere to go hiking or camping. I enjoy city life too, and checking out all of Milwaukee’s amazing restaurants and museums.

How did you learn about Sweet Water?

I learned about Sweet Water from a friend of mine who was familiar with the organization. We were meeting to discuss sustainability in Milwaukee, and she had great things to say about Sweet Water. I had recently finished school and I knew I wanted to work with a sustainability-minded organization in Milwaukee, so I reached out to Sweet Water to learn more about their work.

Can you describe your professional background?

My professional background has always been centered around communication and organization. I unexpectedly began working in broadcast commercial TV production when I was finishing up my bachelors degree. I quickly found my footing within the production industry and spent many years organizing commercial TV shoots. When COVID began, I decided it was time to switch gears and pursue a career I could be passionate about, so I went back to school for Sustainable Management.

Where did your interest in water come from?

My interest in water is ingrained as a Milwaukee native. I grew up close to the lake so was always aware that Lake Michigan was special, not only as a source of freshwater but also for recreation. From a career perspective, I knew I wanted to work in Milwaukee within an organization that helped my hometown in some way, and I found that in Sweet Water.

What do you do when you aren’t at work?

Doing yoga. I also love a long road trip and the occasional international adventure.
